About the Research Project

The National Shipbuilding Office and Lorefully are working together on a national initiative to understand how people enter, move through and progress within the UK shipbuilding industry. Whether you work in civil or defence shipbuilding, engineering, design, trades, management or training, your experience matters. The project aims to uncover the real factors that influence recruitment, retention and movement across shipyards, regions and related industries. By listening directly to people across the workforce, we hope to build a clearer picture of what helps people stay and succeed in this vital sector — and what barriers may still exist.

You are invited to share your views anonymously by answering a few short questions, either by voice or text. It takes only a couple of minutes, and your thoughts will be combined with hundreds of others to help inform future workforce planning, skills policy and support for shipbuilding employers. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of the industry, ensuring that the needs, challenges and experiences of the workforce are properly understood. Thank you for being part of this important national conversation.
